As of February 2024, SRJ Windows embarked on an exciting new journey. This shift puts our team right at the centre of everything we do. With 71.7% of our shares now in an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), our team at SRJ are no longer just employees; they’re owners.
This change embodies our belief that the people who contribute to our work deserve a real stake in the business they help create. It’s a long-term commitment to our team, our future, and the values that have guided SRJ for over thirty years.

What exactly is an Employee Ownership Trust? An EOT is a unique business model where the majority of a company’s shares are held in trust for the benefit of all employees. Instead of being owned by a single person, a family, or outside investors. SRJ is now collectively owned by its dedicated team through this trust.
This structure means that our employees get to share in the success of the business, which helps create a stronger sense of purpose, commitment, and teamwork. While no one holds individual shares, the trust ensures that everyone has a voice and a genuine interest in striving for excellence.
For our customers, suppliers, and partners, this translates into a more stable, motivated, and customer-centric business; one that’s committed to being around for the long haul.
After thriving under family ownership since 1992, the Macintosh family decided to secure SRJ’s future through employee ownership. This was a thoughtful decision, driven by values rather than just financial considerations, choosing to reward the loyalty and dedication of our staff by placing the majority of shares into an EOT.
As Chairman Keith Macintosh explains:
“We realised that selling to an external buyer would have caused too much disruption… The EOT ownership structure helps us maintain our relationships with suppliers and customers.”
The Macintosh family will still hold 28.3% of the shares and remain involved at the board level during this transition, with succession plans already in motion. It’s a model that strikes a balance between continuity and innovation, providing SRJ with the stability of experience while also embracing the energy of empowered new leadership.
