As of today, the owners of SRJ have given a huge window of opportunity to its staff, who are now in the frame to own the business.

Our owners, the Macintosh Family, who have traded for over 30 years, have restructured the business with 71.7% off all of SRJ’s shares now placed in an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) for its 70-strong staff.

Our firm has gone from strength to strength in recent years, bucking the trend within its industry and continuing to grow its business based on exacting standards, workmanship and customer service. We trade from a state-of-the-art office and showroom in Rosyth, Fife and have attracted a loyal and very discerning customer base.

The remaining 28.3% of SRJ shares will be retained by the Macintosh family, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to our business.

Chairman Keith Macintosh said:

“We have spent the last 32 years building a brand that my family and our staff are extremely passionate about. We have been very fortunate that our staff are not only loyal, but have constantly adapted to the changing requirements of both our business and customer needs. Not only does this new structure reward staff for all of their efforts, but we wanted to ensure that our customers continue to have the best experience of dealing with staff, who are totally invested in and committed to, delivering the best experience of service.

We had to consider our retirement options, and we knew that would have consequences. We concluded that a sale to an external buyer would have been too disruptive and we have always wanted the business to remain local, to protect jobs and the identity of the company. Although an external sale would likely have been a more lucrative outcome for the family, the EOT ownership structure maintains our relationships with suppliers and customers.”

The family will continue to be involved at board level in the short term, but new appointees to the board will be made in the coming days, as part of the firm’s succession plans.
